The Ashland University Leadership Academy Seminars are scheduled annually for educational leaders and “provide a series of interactive presentations delivered by knowledgeable practitioners pertaining to contemporary issues in school administration.” Buckeye Association of School Administrators (Ohio)
Since its inception in 1994, Larry Coble has provided leadership training and development to each cohort of the Ohio School Leadership Institute, a leadership academy designed for school superintendents in the state of Ohio. Dr. Coble was the Institute’s first lead trainer and project manager and remains affiliated with the project as a trainer providing leadership development on major topics of interest to practicing superintendents. Cabarrus County Schools (North Carolina)
The current projects with the Cabarrus County Schools include facilitating a community based strategic planning initiative and leadership development in a summer retreat for all of the administrators in the district. Duval County Schools (Florida)
The Duval County Public Schools, the nation's 20th largest school district, states on its website under "Envisioning the Journey" that "building a world-class school district is an ambitious and worthy goal." Recognizing the impact of the cultures of individual schools and the district culture on almost every measurable aspect of the school as an organization, especially student achievement, this project uses the Dennison Organizational Culture Survey across many areas of the district. The process includes the aspects of culture present which contribute to high performance as well as those areas of culture that can be considered "high leverage" in building a world-class school district.
Florida Association of District School Superintendents (Florida)
Since 2000, School Leadership Services has provided leadership training and development for Florida principals, district level leaders, and school superintendents. Training experiences for principals involve topics designed to enhance leadership capacity for positive impact on student achievement. District level leaders and superintendents experience a variety of leadership topics designed to increase their effectiveness as systems leaders. Guilford County Schools (North Carolina)
The Guilford County Schools have placed a priority on leadership development for principals and has made a commitment to enhancing principal effectiveness through executive coaching. Selected principals receive one site visit each month by an experienced coach who excelled as a practitioner. In addition, coaches and principals communicate via email and telephone. Lancaster County Schools (South Carolina)
The current project with the Lancaster County Schools consists of a summer leadership development experience and on-going leadership development throughout the school year for all school system administrators at the district and building levels. The experience allows practicing administrators to learn about and apply a variety of leadership concepts to their on-the-job challenges. Miami Trace Schools (Ohio)
The current project with the Miami Trace Schools is a leadership development program for current and aspiring leaders in the district. The program will provide training and development experiences for sitting administrators and future leaders. Program design and delivery will foster greater self-awareness, self-efficacy, and empowerment in order that participants may learn new leadership skills and competencies and be better equipped to facilitate continuous improvement in their schools and district. Rockingham County Schools (North Carolina)
Like many districts across the United States, the Rockingham County Schools finds itself facing numerous leadership challenges with principals who are bright but lack experience in the principalship. This project is a two-year multi-day leadership development program designed to enhance the leadership skills of current principals. Topics include self-assessment and feedback, reading and shaping a healthy school culture, lessons learned from experience, leading change, conflict management, staying on track and avoiding derailment, and leading and developing high performing teams. Whiteville City Schools (North Carolina)
Research on how leaders develop reveals that the most powerful form of feedback is the 360-degree feedback provided by multiple raters, including self, boss, peers, and direct reports. The current project uses the Discovery Leadership Profile for Educators (360 Assessment) with all administrators in the district. The assessment was administered on-line. Group feedback was provided and was followed by an aggregation of the data by employee groups. Currently, leaders are addressing their most pressing developmental needs through individual and group planning and follow-up.
