About Us

School Leadership Services was founded by Larry D. Coble, Ed.D., with a core group of outstanding associates to provide leadership training and development; technical/consulting services; training, consultation, and coaching for school improvement; and executive coaching services. School Leadership Services works primarily with school superintendents, district-level leaders, principals, assistant principals, and teacher leaders. The organization has also done extensive work with child nutrition professionals and administrative assistants and secretaries to superintendents and school boards.

As Superintendent, Dr. Coble has led school systems with a wide variety of challenges, including small, medium, and large; rural, urban, and suburban; predominantly minority, affluent, and impoverished. He began his career in education as a teacher and has also served as an assistant principal and principal. Since 1994, he has been Director of the Collegium for the Advancement of Schools, Schooling, and Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and, from 1994 to 1997, was also a senior program associate for the Center for Creative Leadership. He is the author of Lessons Learned from Experience: A Practical Develpmental Source Book for Educational Leaders, co-author with Melody H. Clodfelter and Dale L. Brubaker of Strategies for Your Improvement: A Developmental Guide foe Educational Leaders Utilizing 360 ° Feedback, and co-author with Dale L. Brubaker of two books: Staying on Track: An Educational Leader’s Guide to Preventing Derailment and Ensuring Personal and Organizational Success and The Hidden Leader: Leadership Lessons on the Potential Within.

Associates of School Leadership Services are highly successful practitioners and educational leaders with many years of experience in education and in helping administrators and teachers to develop their potential. Associates have a unique ability to inform theory with practice.
